For Educators
Here at the Booth and Dimock Memorial Library, we offer many services to assist your students!
Assignment Alerts
When you assign work to your students that involves library research, we do our best to assist them in finding the information they need.
By sending an email to bdlibrary@coventry.org or calling the library with the details of the assignment, you will enable us to set aside the needed materials and guide your students through their search.
We are willing to pull the appropriate materials and set up a reserve shelf for the students’ use. Advance notice will also allow us to obtain materials from other sources. If you give annual assignments, your suggestions for additional materials to enhance our collection are welcome.
Reference Services
What information is available on the Hartford Circus Fire?
Are there reviews for the book The Giver by Lois Lowry?
The library staff can help find answers to these and many other questions using print and online sources. With access to ww.iCONN.org, among other resources, no subject is too difficult for anyone to research.
Book Lists and Professional Tools
Given one month notification, the Teen Services/Reference Librarian will be happy to provide customized book lists for your classroom needs. We can also provide access to resource materials, book selection tools, and professional journals.
Interlibrary Loan
If the library does not own the materials you need, we can borrow them from another library through the Statewide Interlibrary Loan System.
Displays
We encourage Coventry schools to use library space to exhibit artwork and other special projects. Please contact the Library Director for more information.
Homework Help Center
The Library offers homework help and research assistance when able and by appointment.
School Visits/Tours for Classes and Teachers
Library staff is available to visit classrooms to discuss and provide library resources, to demonstrate databases on iCONN.org and for special programs.
