Class fIELD tRIPS to BDML
Classes are welcome and strongly encouraged to field trip to the library for an orientation, tour, and some library fun. New library cards can also be arranged for students. These field trips can do wonders for combating library anxiety, establishing new young library users, and fostering a year long, and life long love of reading, learning, and community when school is out of session. Teachers are also encouraged to stop by any time to tour our new facilities and meet the library staff.

Assignments that require finding articles in a database
Most of our online resources, as well as the online resources offered by the Connecticut state library, require an active library card number to log in. We can:
Assignments that require physical sources or library research
So you want your students all to write a paper about greek history, and you want them all the find physical books to cite at BDML? Well, say we have 5 books on the topic, and just a couple of students get here early and check them all out. Now the remaining students are stressing, along with library staff, to get what they need before the due date when inter-library loans can take up to two weeks to arrive. It happens all the time!
Libraries provide access to a world of information, but we can't fit books about everything all in one building at once.
With notice, we can ensure that the library collection has enough materials to support any topical class research assignment. We're happy to establish a temporary class reserves collection and gather materials from other libraries ahead of time, so they're here and available when your students need them. We recommend working with us at least one month before the assignment's due date.
